Just for Freshmen

It's that time: the end of your first quarter is coming into view and it's time to take stock, review your options, and make decisions.  Has this quarter gone the way you anticipated?  Have you liked some classes more than others--enough to consider a possible major, for example?  Has anything surprised you?  The answers to these questions will help you decide whether to continue with sequences you began this fall or perhaps to try something new.  Either way, this is a great time to start discussing your progress and plans with your Freshman Adviser.

Freshman Seminars

Remember that nearly all Weinberg students are required to take two freshman seminars.  To ensure that we have enough seminars to accommodate everyone, half the class is scheduled to take seminars in the winter quarter and half in the spring.  The schedule will be posted soon.

The Top Ten selection engine for winter will open at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2 and close at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5.  Seminar placements will be posted the afternoon of Nov. 9.  Students who do not submit Top Ten lists by the deadline will be free to choose any seminar still open after the Top Ten process has closed.

Be sure to consult the winter-quarter Course Schedule on CAESAR before assembling and submitting your Top Ten Freshman Seminar choices. Remember: continuing courses are not always offered at the same from quarter to quarter.  The fact that your Chemistry course meets at 11 this quarter, for example, is no guarantee that it will continue at that time in the winter.  Check CAESAR to be sure.
