Most students begin in Weinberg College as fall-quarter freshmen and thus satisfy their freshman seminar requirement by taking their first seminar in fall and the second in either winter or spring. For students who transfer into Weinberg from another school at Northwestern or from another institution, the procedure varies depending on when you begin in Weinberg.
- If you transfer into Weinberg as of winter quarter of your freshman year, you will take your first freshman seminar in that winter and your second in spring.
- If you transfer into Weinberg as of spring quarter of your freshman year, you will take only one freshman seminar in that spring quarter. You will still be responsible for completing the writing requirement. Consult a College Adviser or the Assistant Dean for Freshmen for how to do this.
- If you transfer into Weinberg after your freshman year, you will not be required to take any freshman seminars. Students who interschool transfer into Weinberg from other Northwestern schools are still responsible for completing the writing requirement, and they should consult a College Adviser about how to do so. Students who transfer into Weinberg from other institutions after freshman year are presumed to have completed the writing requirement.
