Absence from Class

The academic regulations of the University state that: "Students are expected to attend all sessions of the courses for which they are registered. Excessive absence is cause for failure in the course." If you miss more than two consecutive class meetings of a course for health or other reasons, you should contact the instructor to arrange for making up missed work. It is especially important to discuss your situation with your instructor if you miss several class meetings, if you miss an exam or oral presentation, or if you are unable to turn in class assignments on time.

If you know that you will be absent from classes for a week or more, you should notify the Office of Undergraduate Studies and Advising. In cases of an extended illness or a death in the family, the Office of Undergraduate Studies and Advising will notify your instructors.
