Chicago Field Studies Academic Internship Program

For over 40 years, Chicago Field Studies (CFS) has helped students explore the broader community of Chicago and Evanston through a one-quarter academic internship program.

Housed in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, CFS is the largest academic internship program on campus serving over 240 students a year from all schools and majors. Around 60 students per quarter are selected from a competitive applicant pool to take part in one of the CFS programs. Once students are admitted, CFS staff helps them identify and apply for internships that match their intellectual and career interests.

While interning, students take CFS courses on the Evanston campus that connect seminar readings and discussions with the internship’s work, organizational culture and current issues.
