CHICAGO FIELD STUDIES
Academic Internship Programs

Watch our video interviews with CFS alums!

Chicago Field Studies (CFS) runs one-quarter academic internship programs that connect Northwestern seminars with internships at organizations in the Chicago area. Programs carry 1-4 credits and focus on a variety of subjects, such as social justice, law, business, and organizational behavior. CFS students intern up to 32 hours per week, depending on the program. Internship organizations are treated as sites for original research, which forms the cornerstone of seminar discussions and assignments.

Through the diverse CFS curriculum, which connects academic theory with real-world learning, students:

  • develop advanced skills in analysis, research, problem-solving, and writing;
  •  learn to think critically about the professional world;
  • explore a field in which they may be interested in pursuing a career.

Chicago Field Studies is housed in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences and affiliated with the Departments of Anthropology and Sociology. CFS programs are open to students in all schools and majors. Admission is by application only.
