Applying to Chicago Field Studies Programs

CFS programs are open to juniors and seniors in all Northwestern schools and majors. Students applying for summer programs must have completed their sophomore year by the beginning of the program. CFS summer programs are also open to students who attend other colleges and universities.

Admission is through application only. All applicants are required to attend a CFS Information Session before submitting an application. Applications will be considered in the order in which they are received--so turn them in early!

Application Deadlines
Winter 2009 Program:	October 10, 2008
Spring 2009 Program:	January 9, 2009
Summer 2009 Program:	February 16 - April 10, 2009**
Fall 2009 Program:	April 10, 2009

** Most organizations hire their summer interns in February and March, so we encourage students to submit their applications for the summer programs by the February deadline. We will continue to accept applications until April 11 as long as the programs don’t fill up, but internship options may be limited by that time.

CFS Information Sessions

Held at the CFS Office, University Hall 001 (basement)

All applicants are required to attend a CFS Information Session before submitting an application. We recommend that you attend a session well before the application deadline since it will help you better understand the program and plan ahead so that you have room in your schedule to devote a quarter to CFS. Sessions run approximately 30 - 45 minutes. Freshmen are welcome!
