Cost & Financial Aid
CFS programs offered during the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters will cost the same as one quarter at Northwestern during the academic year. For Summer programs, students pay per credit; for details, see the
Northwestern Summer Session Web site.
Most CFS internships are unpaid, and CFS students will have little time to work for pay during the CFS quarter. Students
receiving work-study allocations may wish to meet with a counselor in the
Financial Aid Office to request that the
allocation be replaced with additional loan assistance.
Students on meals plans are eligible for a meal plan exemption, since they will be away from their dorms for a number of
meals each week. For information, see the
NU Cuisine Meal Plans Web site.
Students must complete a Board Contract Change & Request Form and drop it off at the Food Services Office in Parkes Hall, Room 132. Note that changes must be made within the first 2 weeks of the quarter.
*CFS Scholars Fund*
The CFS Scholars Fund will award outstanding and deserving undergraduates who are current or former student-interns in the Chicago Field Studies program. CFS Scholars will receive grants to promote their interests in internships or other professional careers which their CFS internships help to make possible. These grants will cover “extra” costs associated with a CFS internship, as well as allowing students to take advantage of opportunities that present themselves during their work experience. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis to CFS students with the broader goal of assisting as many deserving students as possible. Applicants must submit a formal proposal explaining how they will use a grant, NU transcript, résumé, 1 letter of recommendation (from NU instructor or internship supervisor), and a budget itemizing and justifying intended expenses.
