ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY AND CULTURE
Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences has a new interdisciplinary minor entitled Environmental Policy and Culture. This minor is based in the social sciences and the humanities.
Environmental issues and conflicts are emerging as among the most important concerns of the twenty-first century. Issues such as global warming, the efforts to maintain and restore biodiversity, the reconciliation of development with environmental protection are of compelling concern. While many aspects of environmental problems lie within the purview of the natural sciences, many other aspects of environmental concern are addressed in the social sciences and humanities. Some of the best scholarly work concerning environmental issues is being conducted within these disciplines. These emphases are organized in a variety of ways on different university campuses. This new minor is a step in building institutional support for Northwestern undergraduates to participate in this type of scholarly inquiry.
The initial course list for the minor is drawn from thirteen separate departments across the University.
The Environmental Policy and Culture minor is open to all Northwestern undergraduates.
