Flying to Chicago

O'Hare International Airport (ORD) is the closest airport to Northwestern's Evanston campus. A typical cab ride takes approximately 30-45 minutes from O’Hare. Midway International Airport (MDW) is located further from campus and cab rides take about 45-60 minutes under optimal conditions.

Two cab services familiar with Evanston are Norshore Cab (800-244-9200) and American Taxi (800-244-1177). Call to arrange for pick up after you land. Both services will often have cars at the airport, so the wait will not be long. BE SURE TO ASK FOR THE FLAT RATE TO EVANSTON. It should be around $30 from O'Hare or $50 from Midway.

Driving to Campus

Take Sheridan Road into Evanston from the north or south. Enter Northwestern at Campus Drive on the southeast end of campus, Entrance A, just off of Sheridan. The entrance is next to Evanston's south beach, and is marked with signs for Northwestern University and Northwestern's Boat House.

Parking is free after 4 PM on weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday. At other times, you must park on city streets. See the campus map below for the location of the Norris Center.

Public Transportation

Train: Take the Purple Line to Foster; walk east down Foster Avenue. Cross Sheridan Road and continue to walk east through campus. Cross through the main library plaza, and the Norris Center will be just to the east of the library on Lake Michigan.

Bus: #201 Central/Ridge serves campus (Download Schedule). Exit at the corner of Chicago/Sheridan, and walk northeast through the Northwestern University arch. Continue to walk northeast through campus past the academic buildings. You will soon arrive at the Norris Center, which will be on a hill with a drive leading up. Alternately, you may exit at Foster/Sheridan and walk through campus as described in the "train" directions above.

From the Palmer House

From the Palmer House, go slightly West towards Monroe and take the El Red Line (Monroe St.) up (north) to Howard (the end of the red line), switch to the Purple line (it only goes in one direction from there), and get off at Foster.  As you leave the station, walk east (towards campus and the lake) and then find the Norris Student Center (on campus).  It's about a 5-block walk.  The whole trip should take around 1 hr.  Here are two maps, the first of the Palmer House (and the Red line at Monroe), and the second of the campus:
