Class of 2007
An article by Nirav Shah, “Evaluation of a Porous Tube Hydroponics System as a Testbed for Remote Sensing Instrumentation,” was published in Volume 3 (2006) of the Northwestern Undergraduate Research Journal. Nirav conducted the research as part of a NASA-sponsored summer research program in 2005.Brian Chaikind received an Undergraduate Research Grant in the all-university competition in 2006 and is spending the summer in Florida collecting marine specimens for use in natural products chemistry research. Brian got interested in the use of natural products in native medicine while visiting aboriginal populations in Australia during the summer of 2005.
Class of 2006
Jacquelyn Moss is spending the summer as a project leader for Amigos de las Americas in a Healthy Communities project in partnership with Save the Children Foundation in Chinandega, Nicaragua. Jackie, who graduated cum laude from Northwestern in June, will be entering medical school at Tufts University in the fall.In graduate school are Ben Schenkel (Atmospheric Sciences at Florida State) and Andy Melka (Environmental Science at IIT). Sara Patrawala and Shelly Sahu are in medical school at Northwestern. Margaret Greenwood-Ericksen is on a National Institutes of Health internship in Phoenix. Fulbright recipients are Panah Bhalla, studying sustainable rice culture in Viet Nam and Tiffany Grobelski learning more about environmental policies in Poland. Patrick Joyce is working for the environmental consulting firm, CH2M Hill, in San Francisco.
Class of 2005
Drew Robertson is attending law school at the University of Southern California and Sam Hong is now a student at Georgetown University Law School. Andy Freeberg is a media specialist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland as part of the second year of his masters program in Science and Natural History Filmmaking at Montana State University.
