Research Opportunities

The Ethnographic Field School staff, working with the Center for Cultural Understanding and Change at The Field Museum, strives to ensure that each student has a field placement that matches his or her research interests. The Chicago area abounds with community-based organizations and ethnically affiliated agencies of all types and size. Students have the option of working with young children, adolescents, adults, seniors, or all ages. They may work in programs serving only men or only women, people who are HIV+, people who are refugees or immigrants, etc. This year, the program will focus on health, broadly defined. Projects may include studies relating to health promotion, healthy communities, the arts and health, health issues of at-risk groups, the environment and health, etc.
