Sarah Mangelsdorf Named Dean at Weinberg College
Sarah C. Mangelsdorf, the Harry E. Preble Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has been appointed dean of the Northwestern University Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, effective Aug. 16, 2008.

Eagly Receives Gold Medal Award From Psychological Foundation
Alice Eagly, professor of psychology and James Padilla Chair in Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University, has received the Gold Medal Award for Life Achievement in the Science of Social Psychology by the American Psychological Foundation.  Eagly is also chair of the psychology department and faculty fellow in the Institute for Policy Research.

Masur Receives American Historian Award
Kate Masur, assistant professor of history at Northwestern University Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has received the Binkley-Stephenson Award from the Organization of American Historians (OAH).The award is given annually for the best scholarly article published in The Journal of American History during the preceding calendar year.

Penningroth Named Jones Research Professor in History
Dylan C. Penningroth, associate professor of history at Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been named the Wayne V. Jones Research Professor in History. Penningroth is affiliated with the department of African American Studies and he is holding a joint appointment as research fellow at the American Bar Foundation.

The following Weinberg faculty members have been elected to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences: Eddie Dekel-Tabak, William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Economics; Larry V. Hedges, Board of Trustees Professor of Statistics and Social Policy; Robert Orsi, Grace Craddock Nagle Professor of Catholic Studies; Michael D. Whinston, Robert E. and Emily H. King Professor of Business Institutions.
