April 25-27, 2010

A high profile international conference sponsored by The Crown Family Center for Jewish Studies and The Buffett Center for International and Comparative Studies was held last April at Northwestern University. Titled “The Middle East in the 1950s: Historical Perspectives: Israel, the Arab World and the Great Powers,” this three day event brought together noted scholars from across North America, Europe, and the Middle East to examine this crucial period in the region’s history. The conference was co-chaired by Professors Hendrik Spruyt and Elie Rekhess.
