Professor Wimpfheimer joined the Northwestern faculty in 2006, following a year as Mal and Lea Bank Early Career Professor of Jewish Studies at Penn State University and a semester as Harry Starr Fellow at the Harvard University Center for Judaic Studies. Prior to completing his doctorate with a dissertation entitled “Legal Narratives in the Babylonian Talmud,” he received his rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary at Yeshiva University in 2000.
