- Interdisciplinary: November 1 deadline. Social Science: November 6 deadline.

2.) Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) For Individual Predoctoral Fellows from NIH
- April 8, August 8, and December 8 deadlines
- Although officially applicants must be doctoral candidates who have successfully completed their comprehensive examinations or the equivalent by the time of award and will be performing dissertation research and training, students may be eligible earlier in their programs. (Mental health research focus may be necessary.)

7.) Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation:
- Dissertation Grants in Women's Studies
- Encourages original and significant research on issues related to women's health, especially in the implications of research for the understanding of women's lives and its significance for public policy or treatment.
- Must be doctoral candidate in U.S. University and completed all degree requirements except for dissertation.

8.) United States Department of Defense
- General Info
- Research funding available in Cognitive and Neural Science (comprising 4% of all monies allocated by DoD)
- Research must be “for the benefit of the nation as a whole; for example, it must be available to any industrial organization for exploitation.”
- The National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program
- Designed to encourage U.S. citizens to pursue advanced study in science and engineering fields pertinent to national defense.

9.) Jacob K. Javits Fellowships Program
- October 15 deadline
- For graduate students who have not completed their first year of study
- Eligibility limited to United States citizens or nationals, permanent residents of the U.S., or citizens of any one of the Freely Associated States.
- Recognizes students with superior academic ability and achievement, exceptional promise, and financial need.

10.) SSHRC (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council) of Canada Doctoral Awards
- November 15 deadline
- For students applying to, or registered in, a doctoral program or a combined MA/PhD program in the social sciences or humanities. There are restrictions on these grants that may make it difficult to obtain them for study in a U.S. university.

11.) Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans
- Provides opportunities for continuing generations of able and accomplished New Americans to achieve leadership in their chosen fields
- A New American is an individual who (1) is a resident alien; i.e., holds a Green Card, or, (2) has been naturalized as a U.S. citizen, or (3) is the child of two parents who are both naturalized citizens
- To be eligible you must not be older than thirty years of age as of NOVEMBER 1, 2007
