Master's Thesis
Each student who does not have a master's degree on entering the program must write a master's thesis. This is normally a revision of the first-year paper, incorporating corrections and additions, as specified by the student's committee. We strongly recommend that the thesis be finished by December 15 of the second year. An oral presentation of the first year paper/master's thesis is required in the second year. The student chooses a thesis adviser early in his/her graduate career and the two select an examining committee consisting of the adviser plus one other member of the program faculty.
