Comprehensive Examinations
A comprehensive examination is given in September of the third graduate year. The examination covers course content and issues of importance in the field. However, each student's examination is individually planned by the faculty in consultation with the student so that the examination reflects in large measure the particular interests and competencies of the individual student. The emphasis is on integration of knowledge rather than retention of specific information.
