Social Options Study

NU's Social Perception and Communication Lab is looking for participants to examine information processing and social opinions.
Participation involves learning about topics that are recently in the news media and giving your general opinions.  You'll be paid $8 for 30 minutes of your time.

Social Observation Study

The Social Self Lab at Northwestern University is looking for participants for a research study on how people process information about other people, animals, and issues.  Participation involves completing multiple tasks on the computer including: (1) categorizing people, animals, and objects, (2) watching videos of people and trying to guess what emotions they are experiencing, and (3) answering several questions about yourself and your opinions on several social issues. 

In order to participate, (a) you must be at least 18 years old and (b) you must have lived in the US for at least 5 years. The study takes place in a laboratory at Swift Hall Room 411. The study takes one hour and you will be paid $8 for your participation.

Social Self Lab

Would you like to participate in paid Psychology research? 

NU's Social Self Lab is looking for members of fraternities and sororities to participate in a 15-minute experiment on college experiences.  Participation involves completing survey questions and tasks on the computer.  You'll be paid $5 for 15 minutes of your time.

Problem Solving and Sleep

The Beeman laboratory is seeking individuals 18 years or older to participate in a research study.  Each participant must be a right handed, native English speaker.  The purpose of the study is to investigate problem solving and sleep. The study occurs for 1 hour on Day 1 and up to 2 hours on Day 2. Participants will earn up to $24 for the study.

Dynamics of Interpersonal Interactions

The Social Perception and Communication lab is looking for people, 18 or older, to participate in a research study about interpersonal interactions. Participation involves answering some questions about your attitudes and beliefs and then completing a couple tasks on the computer. Social Perception and Attitude Study

The Social Cognition lab at Northwestern University is looking for NU students to participate in a new online survey examining people’s attitudes and perceptions of others. The study involves reading a journal article, reading descriptions of people and answering questions about them.

They survey will take around 15 minutes to complete. In appreciation of your choice to participate in this project, you will be entered into a raffle of $50 Amazon.com gift card. The chances of winning are 1/50. The raffle will be held on April 1, 2011. (please take it before end of March). The winner will be sent the gift card by email All the responses will be anonymous and kept confidential. Your email and any identification materials will be kept separate from your data. The Identity of Objects

Dating Study

The Northwestern Relationships Laboratory is recruiting romantically-involved couples to participate in a study about dynamics in close relationships. The study involves recalling past relationship experiences and filling out surveys about current relationship experiences. In order to participate, (a) you must be involved in a romantic relationship of at least one month in duration, (b) you and your partner must be at least 18 years old, and (c) you and your partner must both be willing and able to participate. The study takes place in a Swift Hall laboratory, takes 20 minutes, and both partners of participating couples will be paid $8 for their participation ($16/couple).

Visual Adaptation, Selective Attention, and Shape Coding

The laboratories of Dr. Satoru Suzuki and Dr. Marcia Grabowecky are currently seeking healthy adults, 18 years or older, to participate in research on perception. Participants are compensated $10/hour for volunteering. Once you contact the laboratory, you will be informed of studies in progress and their specific requirements (for example, handedness, age range, gender) and procedures. Typically, studies involve responding to images or sounds presented by a computer and last from 1-2 hours. Some studies also require responding to personality or mood questionnaires, or having physiological responses recorded (for example, brain waves or eye movements). The details of the particular study will be provided when you contact the laboratory. If you are interested in volunteering and you qualify to participate in any ongoing studies, an appointment will be scheduled. Note: no transportation or parking costs will be covered.

Deception Study

The Northwestern Deception Lab is looking for participants for a series of brain wave deception studies. Participants will complete a task while brain activity is recorded through EEG. Participation lasts either 60 or 90 minutes and payment is $10/hour. Participants must be at least 18 years of age, have no history of head injury or epilepsy, and have not used Retin-A Micro or similar prescription acne medications in the past six months. You must have normal or corrected to normal vision with glasses.
