Your Faculty Adviser
Each new psychology major or minor is assigned to a faculty adviser. Students can talk with advisers about course selections, career choices, and planning an undergraduate program that will best prepare them for whatever they might do next. Faculty advisers are also good resources for learning about research in our department and about graduate school options in psychology. In addition, faculty advisers can review and sign your Petition to Graduate (Application for a Bachelor's Degree) or Minor Application.
Students are also welcome to approach other members of the faculty for informal advice, and the departmental staff in Swift Hall 102 can answer many routine questions. Get to know the faculty members whose interests in psychology best match your own – even if your assigned adviser is from another area within the field. A list of psychology faculty members, including their research interests and contact information, is available in the People section of our website.
If you are a psychology major or minor and do not yet have a faculty adviser, you should contact the Undergraduate Secretary in the main psychology department office (Swift Hall 102, phone 847-491-5190). She can schedule an appointment for you with either Sara Broaders or Joan Linsenmeier.
