Career Planning
Psychology students follow many different paths after they graduate. Some directly enter jobs in business, social services, and other fields. Some go on to professional training in medicine or law. Some choose to earn master’s degrees in education, social work, or counseling. Others enter doctoral programs in psychology and related fields.
The department and the university offer various resources to help you sort through the available options. Our career planning webpages are one source of information. Some of these pages focus specifically on graduate study in psychology, and some address other possibilities.
The counselors at Career Services can also be very helpful in this process, and their webpage contains a lot of very useful information too.
You’re also welcome to talk with faculty advisers in our department as you think about your future -- and about how the choices you make now might relate to what you do when you leave Northwestern.
