To learn more about majoring or minoring in psychology, or about courses and programs offered by the department, you can contact the Undergraduate Program Assistant in the main Psychology Department office, Swift 102, phone 847-491-5190. She can set up an appointment for you to meet with an undergraduate adviser. You can also send questions by email to Joan Linsenmeier, Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies, or Sara Broaders, Assistant Director of Undergraduate Studies. .
Another way to learn more about psychology at Northwestern is to explore the department's website, http://www.wcas.northwestern.edu/psych/. Quarterly newsletters and e-mail messages provide psychology majors and minors with up-to-date course information and other relevant news. The newsletter, Swift Thinking, can be found online. Information on speakers, courses, and other matters of interest to psychology students is also posted on bulletin boards in Swift Hall.
The first step in officially declaring a major or minor in psychology is to complete a Declaration of Major form in the Psychology Department Office, Swift 102. Each new psychology major and minor then meets with an undergraduate adviser for a general orientation to the department and to discuss formal degree requirements and explore course options.
