Declaring a Major or Minor in Psychology

Students with an interest in psychology who want to learn more about majoring or minoring in our department or about the courses and programs we offer can contact the Undergraduate Secretary, Ms. Ginger Gilmore, in the main psychology department office (Swift Hall 102, phone (847) 491-5190). She can answer questions you might have and can also set up an appointment for you with a psychology adviser.

Steps for Declaring a Major or Minor

  1. Complete a declaration form in the psychology department office, Swift Hall 102. When you turn in your declaration form, you will be given some relevant handouts to read.
  2. Set up an appointment to meet with Dr. Joan Linsenmeier, Dr. Renee Engeln-Maddox, or Dr. Sara Broaders to discuss department requirements, to explore course options, and to be assigned to a department adviser. (Office staff will help you set up this appointment.) All members of the psychology faculty currently serve as undergraduate advisers.
  3. Take one copy of your declaration form to the Weinberg College Office of Undergraduate Studies and Advising, located at 1922 Sheridan Road.
