Accessing Visual Resources from Off Campus
Both our local image databases and ARTstor are restricted to use within the Northwestern network. These restrictions help us prevent copyright violations.
If you have a Northwestern netID you can access these resources remotely. Either use VPN (Virtual Private Network) or the library proxy server. VPN requires the installation of a VPN client on your computer (or use of the native VPN client for Mac OS 10.2 and above). This free download and instructions are available through the NUIT website at http://www.it.northwestern.edu/oncampus/vpn/. The proxy server does not require you to install a client, instead you configure your web browser to connect to the proxy server. Instructions for using the proxy server are available at the library website at http://www.library.northwestern.edu/help/proxy/#nuproxy.
Please note that ARTstor will function more smoothly if you use VPN.
