Printer Recommendations

WeinbergIT recommends these printer models:

  • HP LaserJet P1505

Single-user printer suitable for light use

  • HP LaserJet P2055dn

Network printer suitable for small groups and light use

  • HP LaserJet P3005x

    Network printer suitable for large groups and heavy use
  • Xerox Phaser 8560dn

Network color printer suitable for large groups and heavy use

HP models are available through the Hewlett Packard site in iBuyNU.  Xerox models are available through the Corporate Express site on iBuyNU.

Please keep the following items in mind when purchasing printers:

  • WeinbergIT strongly recommends the use of network printers that can be shared by several users in the same area. Single-user printers should be the exception, not the norm.
  • In the interest of conserving paper, the default settings on all printers should be set to duplex (two-sided) printing.  If you would like assistance with configuring your printer, please enter a service request. (Please note: Not all printers are capable of duplex printing.  HP and Xerox printers capable of duplex printing will have a "d" or "x" after the model number.
  • HP printers do not ship with cables included.  If you need a cable to connect your printer to your computer, it will have to be ordered seperately.
  • WeinbergIT does not recommend purchasing InkJet printers.  The initial cost may be lower than that of a LaserJet printer, but they are less reliable and tend to have a higher cost of ownership in the long term.
  • WeinbergIT does not recommend purchasing multifunction printers.  Additional equipment (fax, scanner, etc.) should be purchased separately to insure quality and reliability.

All departments should order toner cartridges from Genesis Technologies.  By ordering toner from Genesis, you automatically enroll in their service program, which includes two preventive maintenance cleanings per year and all service/repair labor charges.  The Genesis Technologies catalog is available on iBuyNU. 

Large departments should consider the Copier Management Program through Ricoh Business Solutions.
