Purchasing/Updating Software
All Windows and Mac computers purchased within Weinberg are set up by WeinbergIT with a standard software image.
This speeds up the setup of new computers.
It also enables the IT staff to re-image a computer when there are complex software problems, preserving all of the user’s data and lowering the time to get them back up and running. Weinberg College and Northwestern University maintain license agreements for faculty and staff for all software on the WeinbergIT Software Image; faculty and staff do not need to order or pay for this software. Update on Windows 7
To insure the efficient and effective use of computers for our faculty and staff, WeinbergIT is not yet supporting Windows 7.
WeinbergIT is currently testing Windows 7 in our environment, but it is our policy to wait until the first Service Pack has been released and compatibility with the NU Enterprise systems has been established before providing support. In the interim we are applying the WeinbergIT Windows XP image to newly purchased computers.
Weinberg College has a site license for the Windows operating system. Once we begin supporting Windows 7, we will be able to upgrade your computer at no cost to you or your department. |
