Computer Support Policies
New purchases must meet WeinbergIT standards. New purchases supported by WeinbergIT will be set up with the WeinbergIT software image.Existing
Dell, Lenovo, and Apple computer hardware that meets the minimum
hardware and operating system standards below is supported by
WeinbergIT. Minimum hardware standard- Windows based computers: single processor 1.2 GHz
- OS X based computers: single processor 1.0 GHz
- 512 MB of RAM
- 20 GB disk
- All computers must have an Ethernet port or an external Ethernet adapter
Operating system standard- Windows XP Professional 32-bit
- Mac OS 10.4 or 10.5
- Red Hat Enterprise linux 3, 4, 5
Exclusively
for computers purchased before 3/10/08, if the computer brand is not one
of those listed above, but the computer meets these minimum hardware
standards, it is supported on a best-effort support basis. Best-effort
support is 30-minutes of troubleshooting/support, after which the
computer may be re-imaged and/or data recovered, in consultation with the faculty or staff member. All standards will be reviewed at least twice per year.
