Program Areas
The Department of Psychology at Northwestern University reflects the richness of the field of psychology as a whole. Its five main areas of research and instruction—Brain, Behavior, & Cognition; Clinical; Cognitive; Personality; and Social—are among the best in the nation. Federally, privately, and internally funded research programs seek to provide a basic understanding of human thinking and behavior, as well as pathways to more effective treatment of diseases of the mind and tools for the betterment of society as a whole.
